2008-08-27

Russian Ministry of Transport starts soon to develop the project on construction of a new deep-water sea port in the Murmansk region, says Mr. Sergey Ivanov, the vice-prime minister of the Russian Federation.

As reported before, the Russian government allotted an annual budget of 100 mln RUB for the development of Murmansk transport network. The development scheme implies the modernization of cargo handling terminals on the East coast of the Kola Bay and the construction of new terminals on the West coast. It is also planned to construct a new railway of 26 km long to secure the access to new terminals.
